For their debut album, the award-winning Vision String Quartet present two works overshadowed by death. Schubert's "Death and the Maiden" Quartet features variations on his song of the same name as its haunting slow movement, while Mendelssohn's String Quartet No. 6 was composed shortly after he lost his sister Fanny – and only a matter of months before his own death.
