Fabio Mechetti, the conductor, became the first Brazilian music director of an Asian orchestra when he was appointed principal conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in 2014.

This album is part of 'The Music of Brazil' series, a project by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote Brazilian music from the 18th century onwards.

Ronaldo Miranda, the composer featured on this album, has received numerous awards, including France's Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and First Prize in the Budapest International Composition Competition.

Performer Biography

Eduardo Monteiro, the pianist on this recording, is considered one of Brazil's great pianists and won First Prize at the 1989 Cologne International Piano Competition.
