Moreno Torroba began writing for guitar after meeting Andrés Segovia, a great guitarist, in 1918, who encouraged him to compose for the instrument.
Composer Biography
Beyond guitar music, Moreno Torroba was a leading advocate for zarzuela, a light Spanish opera form, composing around eighty operas and touring widely as a conductor and impresario.
