This album was recorded in Germany on December 4 & 5, 2014, and May 26 & 27, 2015, using a Steinway D Concert Grand piano.
Composer's Artistic Vision
After hearing a Dvořák piece at Oberlin, Dett found his true calling, deciding to compose music using Negro folk idioms to achieve high artistic goals.
Performer Biography
Clipper Erickson, the pianist on this album, made his solo debut at age 19 and has won prizes at international competitions like the Busoni and William Kapell.
