The project of commissioning new music for Kunstharmonium and piano began in the Corona-Winter of 2020 and was completed in May 2024, spanning almost a decade.

The album was recorded in two sessions: the first in December 2020 and the second in May 2024, at the Historischer Reitstadel in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz.

Performer Biography
Jan Hennig, the Kunstharmonium player, is an expert on the instrument and his first CD, 'Das Kunstharmonium - Hommage à Victor Mustel', received the German Record Critics' Award in 2012.

The Kunstharmonium, a type of harmonium, and piano combination, was once predicted to play an important role in 20th-century music but its compositional pursuit faded for about a hundred years, with its role later taken by electronic instruments.

The Kunstharmonium used for this recording is a Mustel, serial number 3405-1593, from 1928, and the piano is a Steinway D, serial number 602285, from 2015.
