The sound restoration for this collection was carried out by Andrew Walter and Paul Baily at Abbey Road Studios in London, and by Eyvind Rafn at DigiSound in Copenhagen.

A significant portion of the sound restoration costs were funded by the Statens Musikråd, Carl Nielsen og Anne Marie Carl-Nielsens Legat, and Gangstedfonden.

Performer Biography

Emil Telmányi, a violinist born in Hungary, married Carl Nielsen's daughter, Anne Marie, in 1918 and made significant contributions to the revision of Nielsen's works.

Recording & Production

Many of the recordings in this collection were previously released on LP by Danacord, including the 6 symphonies that won the prestigious GRAMOPHONE Record Award in 1985.

Performer Biography

Thomas Jensen, a conductor, trained at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory from 1913 to 1915, with Carl Nielsen being one of his influential teachers.

Recording & Production

The concept for this six-volume compact disc series was planned by Hans Hansen, the late Carl Møller, and Axel Pless of Denmark's Radio Archives.
