Anton Edvard Pratté, the composer, was born Johan Georg and adopted a new name and career as a harpist and composer after running away from an abusive father.

Pratté's compositions for harp demonstrate his mastery of the instrument, with virtuoso passages written idiomatically and melody and accompaniment balanced between both hands.

Performer Biography

Delphine Constantin-Reznik founded the International Pratté Harp Festival and Competition in Norrköping in 2019 to celebrate the revival of Anton Edvard Pratté's music.

Composer Biography

Pratté's father ran a popular puppet theatre, and the young Johan Georg (later Anton Edvard Pratté) entertained audiences during intervals by playing a small David's harp.

Recording & Production

The album was recorded in August 2020 at the Louis de Geer Concert Hall in Norrköping, Sweden, using Neumann microphones and high-resolution audio equipment.

Performer Biography

Delphine Constantin-Reznik, the harpist on this recording, discovered Anton Edvard Pratté's works after taking up her post with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, leading to this first-ever recording of his compositions.
