Florence Price, the composer, was the first African American woman to have a work performed by a leading orchestra, with her Symphony in E minor premiered by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Instruments
The organ used for this recording is an Ernest M. Skinner organ (opus 823), originally built for First Presbyterian Church, Passaic, New Jersey, USA, and is one of the best-preserved examples of Skinner's work.
Performer Biography
Tom Winpenny, the organist, has held posts as assistant master of the music at St Albans Cathedral and sub-organist at St Paul's Cathedral, London.
