Ian Scott, the clarinetist on this album, is the principal clarinet of the Royal Ballet Sinfonia and previously held the same post with the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon.

Sergei Prokofiev, a virtuoso pianist, arranged ten selections from Romeo and Juliet for piano solo as his opus 75 before its first staging in 1938.

The album was recorded at St. John the Evangelist Church, Oxford, on November 7th and 8th, 2021, with a Steinway Model D piano.
Performer Biography
Jonathan Higgins, the pianist, was the principal pianist for the Birmingham Royal Ballet for 26 years, after joining Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet in 1987.
Composition History
Before Cinderella's premiere in 1945, Prokofiev published piano arrangements of numbers from the ballet in 1942 (opus 95), 1943 (opus 97), and 1944 (opus 102).
Interpretation
The idea for this album, featuring suites from Prokofiev's ballets, came to clarinetist Ian Scott while he was playing in the orchestra pit during a run of Prokofiev's ballet Cinderella.
