Prokofiev's Violin Sonata No. 1 in F minor, Op. 80, was started in 1938 but only completed in 1946, after he was evacuated from Moscow during the Nazi invasion.

Sergei Prokofiev, the composer, bought his first home, a dacha in Nikolina Gora near Moscow, in 1946, where he completed the F minor Violin Sonata and the Sixth Symphony.
