Hofer dedicated his 1654 collection, Salmi con una voce e doi Violini, e Motetti con, e senza Violini, to the archbishop, his employer, and included a preface for musicians.

A significant collection of Hofer's manuscript copies, written on Salzburg paper from around 1670, is preserved in the archive of the Kremsmünster monastery.
