Interpretation
The clarinetist, Dr. Willett, believes that the decision to use vibrato should be based on what seems most appropriate to the music, rather than a strict 'non vibrato sempre' tradition.
Instruments
The clarinet is unique among orchestral wind instruments for producing weak, almost non-existent even partials, which gives it a characteristic tubular or hollow sound.

Dr. William C. Willett, the clarinetist on this album, was the Co-Originator of the Music and Acoustics Degree at the University of Hartford, a program unique in American Universities.

James Staples III, the pianist on this album, was a National winner of the National Federation of Music Clubs and a semi-finalist in the Naumburg piano competition.
Recording & Production
This vintage recording was transferred from original analog masters, and despite some flaws due to tape aging, these were preferred over an LP due to better overall sound quality.
