Prokofiev, the composer, was immersed in music from a young age by his mother and began studying piano at the conservatory in Saint Petersburg at age thirteen.

This album was recorded in April 2016 at Tonhalle, St. Gallen, Switzerland, and MCO Hilversum, The Netherlands, using Bruel & Kjaer 4006 and Schoeps microphones.
