Evgeni Koroliov, the pianist on this recording, was born in Moscow in 1949 and received free instruction from renowned pianists Heinrich Neuhaus and Maria Judina.

Evgeni Koroliov has won several international competitions, including the Leipzig Bach prize in 1968, the Van Cliburn Prize in 1973, and the Grand Prix Clara Haskil Vevey-Montreux in 1977.
