Recording & Production

This album was recorded at Phoenix Studio in Budapest, Hungary, from December 12th to 15th, 2001.

Compositional Technique

Even in his teenage years, Schubert's string quartets, like those on this recording, showed remarkable technical assurance.

Composer's Artistic Vision

Despite Schubert's influences from Haydn and Mozart, his individual voice can be heard in the song-like slow movements and dramatic outer movements of his early quartets.

Performer Biography

The Kodály Quartet, the performers on this album, consists of Attila Falvay (Violin I), Tamás Szabó (Violin II), János Fejérvári (Viola), and György Éder (Cello).
