Most of the performances on this album are first recordings on period instruments, including a replica early 19th-century clarinet, gut strings, and an original 1843 Pleyel piano.

The grand piano used on this recording was built by Camille Pleyel in 1843 and is essentially identical to the one owned by Chopin.
