The performers aimed to return to Wagner's original conception of the Wesendonck-Lieder, which he initially composed for voice and piano, not full orchestra.
Interpretation
Clarinetist Raphaël Sévère chose lieder originally composed for high voice, primarily playing the soprano part on the clarinet with minimal alterations.
Performer Biography
Pianist Adam Laloum gained international recognition by winning First Prize in the 2009 Clara Haskil International Piano Competition.
