The recording sessions for this album took place in Milan, Italy, across several dates in 2013 and 2014.
Composer Biography
Stanford's first piano lessons were with his mother, but his godmother, Elizabeth Meeke, a Moscheles pupil, had the most lasting influence on his approach to the instrument.

Sir Charles Villiers Stanford, the composer, valued a 'beautiful touch' and 'beauty of tone' in piano playing, preferring it over sheer strength or 'fist force'.
Composition History
Many of the works on this album, including the Two Novellettes and two Sonatinas, are first recordings, with some pieces being previously unpublished.

This album is the second volume in a series dedicated to the complete solo piano music of Sir Charles Villiers Stanford.
