The album title, "Suites and Treats," was inspired by the idea of some pieces being like a "five-course meal" (suites) and others like "snacks" or "palate cleansers" (treats).

This recording represents the culmination of 50 years of the Brass Arts Quintet commissioning and performing new compositions and arrangements.
Composition History
Many compositions and arrangements on this album were written specifically for the Brass Arts Quintet by its members and friends, including Bennie Beach, Greg Danner, Charles Decker, Joshua Hauser, Chris McCormick, and Mark Morgan.
Recording & Production
The recording sessions took place from May 25-27, 2010, in Wattenbarger Auditorium at Bryan Fine Arts Building, Tennessee Technological University.
Compositional Technique
The album features different types of "suites," including original compositions, ballads, a suite modeled after baroque dance suites, and a suite of jazz tunes.
Performer Biography
The Brass Arts Quintet, in residence at Tennessee Technological University, has existed since 1963 and has performed throughout the United States, including on public television.
