This album features the world premiere recording of Suppé's Fantasia Symphonica, which conductor Ola Rudner rediscovered in Viennese archives and identified as a missing symphony.

Suppé's overtures, in the manner of Rossini, always conclude with a sweeping, brilliant finale, often featuring a galop.

Suppé's operettas, unlike the Parisian model of Offenbach, owe more to the melodic lyricism of the Italian style and the tender German comic Singspiele of Lortzing.

Conductor Ola Rudner began his musical career as a violinist, serving as concertmaster for several orchestras and founding the Philharmonia Wien in 1995.
