The tradition of choral singing in Acadie is deeply linked to the experience of the Acadian people, who, after the deportation of 1755, found themselves in great distress, with the voice remaining as their primary musical instrument.
Recording & Production
The recording sessions for this album took place in Memramcook, New Brunswick, from March 16-19, 2023, at Monument-Lefebvre.
Composition History
Three of the fourteen works on this recording are new creations by Rachel C. Léger, Carl Philippe Gionet, and Richard Gibson, and many pieces have never been recorded before.

In 2020, the Chœur Louisbourg participated in the Messiah/Complex project, an initiative with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and other Canadian ensembles, which received critical acclaim from The New York Times, the BBC, and France Musique.
Performer Biography
The Chœur Louisbourg, a professional choir specializing in early music, was founded by Réjean Poirier, a leading figure in New Brunswick's cultural scene, and typically comprises about twenty trained musicians from across the province.
