Matthew Taylor's Viola Concerto was commissioned by Keith Stanley to mark the birth of the composer's younger daughter, Imogen, on March 7, 2010.
Performer Biography
Sarah-Jane Bradley, the violist, won first prize at Capellades and St Joan de Vilatorrada, Spain, in 1995, and was a prizewinner at the 1994 Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition.

Garry Walker, the conductor, won the 1999 Leeds Conductor's Competition and became Permanent Guest Conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Instruments
Sarah-Jane Bradley, the violist, plays an 1896 viola made by G. A. Chanot of Manchester.

Matthew Taylor, the composer, studied composition at Cambridge University with Robin Holloway and later at the Royal Academy of Music with Edward Gregson.

Matthew Taylor, the composer, pursued conducting studies with Vilém Tauský at the Guildhall School of Music and Leonard Bernstein at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.

This album was recorded at Studio 1, BBC Maida Vale, London, with the Viola Concerto recorded in January 2013 and Symphony No. 2 in January 2009.
