Telemann sent some of the pieces on this album to his friend and patron, Landgrave Ludwig VIII of Hessen-Darmstadt, a passionate hunter and patron of the arts.

Recording & Production
This album was recorded at the final concert of the 23rd Magdeburg Telemann Festival in 2016, which focused on 'Telemann and the concert'.

Telemann's 'Cricket Symphony' (Concert à neuf parties) features an extravagant scoring with two double basses and a unique combination of chalumeau and oboe.
