Album & Artwork
This album, titled "The Billy Collins Suite," is a collection of songs inspired by the poetry of American poet Billy Collins.
Composition History
The entire project was conceived by Chicago's Music in the Loft chamber series and its founder, Fredda Hyman, and funded by board member Dr. Peter Austin.
Composer's Artistic Vision
The unity of this suite is provided by Billy Collins's poetry, while the contrast comes from the diverse styles of the five composers and their musical interpretations of the verses.
Composition History
The five compositions in this suite were commissioned works, with funding provided by Dr. Peter Austin, a board member of Music in the Loft.
Recording & Production
This album was recorded in 2008 at the Fay and Daniel Levin Performance Studio, WFMT, Chicago.
