Bill Morrison's film "The Unchanging Sea" re-assembles a new narrative from various ancient films about going to and returning from the sea, using the original title as a starting point.

The work "The Unchanging Sea" was commissioned by the Seattle Symphony as part of its Sonic Evolution project and by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

The film "The Unchanging Sea" by Bill Morrison, with music by Michael Gordon, was inspired by the discovery of a decaying print of D.W. Griffith's 1910 film of the same name.
