Henry Vieuxtemps, a virtuoso violinist, was considered a worthy successor to Paganini as "king of the violin" and was internationally famous.

Vieuxtemps revolutionized the violin in the 19th century by transforming its technique, aesthetic, and poetry, moving beyond the old repertoire.
Instruments
For this recording, Vilmos Csikos plays a Giovanni Battista Rogeri (Cremona) 1700 violin on most tracks and a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume (Paris) 1828 violin on one track.
