This album was originally released in 1995 on the Musical Heritage Society label, before being re-released by Cedille Records in 2010.

Vivaldi taught music at the Ospedale della Pietá, a residence for orphaned or abandoned girls in Venice, and wrote his concertos with their growing abilities in mind.
