Both the Requiem and The Way of Love, featured on this album, were commissioned by Andrew Naylor for the chamber choir Chichester Voices.

The Way of Love was written by composer Michael Walsh during a holiday in France in 2001, while he was recovering from severe sunburn.

Matthew Cann, the director of αntiphoη, was a chorister at Gloucester Cathedral and later a Lay Clerk at Norwich Cathedral and a Lay Vicar of Exeter Cathedral Choir.
Compositional Technique
The Requiem, first performed in 2015, was deliberately conceived by composer Michael Walsh as an homage to other great Requiems, borrowing hints from composers like Fauré, Duruflé, and Mozart, but with an English melodic flavor.

The Mass of the Holy Trinity was a gift to Alan Thurlow, who was appointed organist of Chichester Cathedral in 1980, and was first performed in 1988.
