Ulrich Beetz, the violinist, and Gerrit Zitterbart, the pianist of the Abegg Trio, are also professors, teaching chamber music and piano respectively at conservatories in Weimar and Hanover.

The Abegg Trio's Mozart piano trios were chosen by Stereoplay magazine as the recommended recording, and their Brahms recording was Audio's CD of the month.

Since 1982, the Abegg Trio has released over 20 recordings, including complete piano trio cycles by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Brahms.
