1/7Composer's Artistic Vision
The album brings together three composers—Gerardo di Giusto, Gabriel Sivak, and Alejandro Iglesias Rossi—who, despite their contrasting languages, share common roots and pay tribute to Alberto Ginastera.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Rossi's 'Llorando silencios' follows Andean cosmology, dividing pitches according to Hanan Pacha (upper world), Kay Pacha (earthly world), and Uku Pacha (lower world), and their animal symbols: condor, puma, and snake.
Composition History
Alberto Ginastera's 'Variaciones concertantes' belongs to his second stylistic period, a difficult time marked by tensions with President Perón's government, yet he described his style as gaining 'more breadth, with a more universal perspective'.
Album & Artwork
The album's concept, shared by cellist Patrick Langot, conductor Alejandro Sandler, and the Orchestre de Lutetia, is inspired by the condor, Argentina's emblematic bird, symbolizing a journey through space and time.
Compositional Technique
Alejandro Iglesias Rossi's 'Llorando silencios' evokes ancestral South American sonorities, with the cello imitating traditional instruments like the quena, charango, and erke.
Compositional Technique
Gabriel Sivak's 'Descaminos' (meaning 'to leave the marked path') is inspired by the Argentine Pampas and reflects the composer's creative journey, using complex polyrhythms and harmonic hedonism.
Compositional Technique
Gerardo di Giusto's 'Alas' draws inspiration from traditional Argentine rhythms like the malambo and baguala, featuring an omnipresent alternation between binary and ternary rhythms.
