Composer Biography
Tomaso Albinoni, the composer, was a 'sleeping partner' in a family firm making playing cards, but was also the closest to a professional musician among his Venetian contemporaries.
Compositional Technique
Albinoni, like other Venetian dilettanti, faithfully adhered to the post-Corellian sonata structure of four movements: Slow-Fast-Slow-Fast.
Performer Biography
Federico Guglielmo, the violinist and artistic director of L'Arte dell'Arco, became the youngest professor of strings at an Italian conservatory at age 22.
Recording & Production
L'Arte dell'Arco, the ensemble on this recording, embarked on an ambitious project in 1996 to record all of Tartini's concertos, releasing 30 volumes.
Performer Biography
Federico Guglielmo has led concert tours in Japan and the US every two years since 1990 as principal violin and leader of I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani.
