The Rondo in B flat major, Kinsky-Halm Anh.6, is of doubtful authorship and has also been attributed to Mozart and the Czech composer Leopold Anton Koželuch.

The earliest works on this album, the Rondo in C major, WoO48, and the Rondo in A major, WoO 49, were composed when Beethoven was just thirteen years old.
Composition History
The popular 'Für Elise' was likely intended for Therese Malfatti, the last woman Beethoven proposed to, and not for a person named Elise.
Instruments
Two different fortepianos by Paul McNulty are used on this recording, one after a Walter & Sohn instrument from c.1805 and another after a Conrad Graf opus 318 from c.1819.
Composition History
The Rondo a capriccio in G major, Op.129, known as 'The Rage Over a Lost Penny,' was never finished by Beethoven and was completed and titled by Anton Diabelli and Anton Schindler.

Beethoven's 'Alla ingharese quasi un capriccio' was inspired by the raw beauty and direct emotion of Hungarian gypsy music he heard in Viennese cafés.

The version of 'Für Elise' on this album is a revised version transcribed by British Beethoven scholar Barry Cooper from Beethoven's sketches, which was likely never heard during Beethoven's lifetime.
