The Feininger Trio, founded in 2005 by Adrian Oetiker (pianist), Christoph Streuli (violinist), and David Riniker (cellist), is named after Lyonel Feininger, a graphic artist, designer, painter, and co-founder of The Bauhaus.
Composition History
Johannes Brahms's Piano Trio in B Major, Op. 8 exists in two versions; this recording features the later 1889 version, which is commonly performed today.

This album is a co-production with Deutschlandfunk Kultur, and the Feininger Trio has also recorded the complete Brahms Trio cycle in co-production with them.

Composer Biography
Ernst Krenek, a Viennese composer, was dissatisfied with his Trio-Fantasia, Op. 63, written in 1929, feeling it was trivial compared to the brilliance of the musicians it was written for.
