The album's title, "Verklärte Nacht" (Transfigured Night), connects the works of Arnold Schoenberg, Alexander von Zemlinsky, and Franz Schubert.
Instruments
The Hamburg Trio's unique sound comes from violinist Mitsuru Shiogai and cellist Ulrich Horn both playing instruments made by Giovanni Gagliano, a violin from the 1780s and a cello from around 1800.
