Christopher Wood had never composed music before starting this Requiem, which took about eight years to write, initially just for his own pleasure.

Christopher Wood, a former cancer surgeon and pharmaceutical entrepreneur, was inspired to compose this Requiem after witnessing the national mourning for Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 2002.
Recording & Production
The Requiem was orchestrated by Jonathan Rathbone, who saw its potential and agreed to orchestrate it if Christopher Wood allowed it to be performed.
