Nicolas Clérambault, the composer, was born in Paris in 1676, the son of one of the 24 Violons du Roi, the royal string band.

The flute used on this recording is a 2016 instrument by Boaz Berney, modeled after a 1710 four-part flute by Pierre Naust.
