Echoes of War: Piano Trios by Weinberg & Shostakovich

For their debut album, Trio Marvin, winners at the ARD International Music Competition 2018, present two works composed under the shadow of the 20th century's greatest conflict. Polish-born Soviet composer Mieczysław Weinberg's Trio Op. 24 was composed in 1945, while Shostakovich's Second Piano Trio, which features a sardonic dance as its final movement, was composed in 1944.

Trio Marvin won the 'Grand Prize' at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition in Australia in 2018 and became prizewinners of the ARD International Music Competition.

Trio Marvin, consisting of pianist Vita Kan, violinist Marina Grauman, and cellist Marius Urba, was founded in Leipzig in 2016.
