François Kerdoncuff, the pianist on this album, studied with Nadia Tagrine and Vlado Perlemuter, and won several international piano competitions.

Vincent d'Indy, a principal figure in French musical life at the turn of the 20th century, was a student of César Franck.

Historical Context

Around 1890-1900, d'Indy was considered one of the most advanced musicians of the Modern school, even beyond France, before his reputation shifted to a more reactionary image.
