Robert Kahn, the composer, was a senator of the Academy of Arts in Berlin and a professor at the Musikhochschule in Berlin for chamber music and piano.

A 1922 review of Robert Kahn's Piano Trio in E minor praised it as the mature work of a true master, noting its "complete balance of content, form and structure."
