Sir Roger Norrington, the conductor on this album, was the principal conductor of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1998 to 2011 and is now its Conductor Laureate.

Martinů's musical style combined influences from contemporary French music, Baroque concerti grossi, and old English madrigals, while retaining roots in Czech folk music.
Recording & Production
The Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, featured on this recording, merged with the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg in September 2016 to form the new SWR Symphonieorchester.
