Gary Cooper, the fortepiano player, made his solo Wigmore Hall debut in 2000 performing Bach's complete Well-Tempered Clavier.
Instruments
The fortepiano used in this recording is a copy by Derek Adlam (1987) of an Anton Walter instrument from Vienna, 1795.
Compositional Technique
Mozart's Sonata in G, KV 379, is unusual in having only two movements, with an expansive first movement featuring a slow introduction and a somber Allegro in G minor.

Rachel Podger, the violinist on this album, co-founded two Baroque ensembles, Florilegium and The Palladian Ensemble, which have achieved international success.

Mozart's first published works, the Sonatas for harpsichord and violin KV 6-9, were released in Paris where he performed for King Louis XV.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's father, Leopold, believed his son was supremely musically gifted after Wolfgang memorized harpsichord pieces at age three and played the violin with emotion.
