Performer Biography
The Chamber Orchestra of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk was created in 1999 to allow academic youth to collaborate with prominent concertmasters of Polish chamber ensembles.
Compositional Technique
Marek Czerniewicz's "Wtulonemu w skrzypce" (To the Cuddled One into the Violin) incorporates musical quotations, including from Henryk Wieniawski's Violin Concerto in D Minor and "Happy Birthday," to create a humorous and traditional character.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Radosław Łuczkowski's Concertino for piano and strings is inspired by 20th-century masters like Béla Bartók and Sergei Prokofiev, while also incorporating his own ideas for organizing pitch material.
Composition History
Marek Czerniewicz's "Wtulonemu w skrzypce" (To the Cuddled One into the Violin) was commissioned by pupils of Professor Jerzy Hazuka, a violin pedagogue, for his 60th anniversary of pedagogical work.
Performer Biography
Andrzej Kacprzak, a violinist and pedagogue, has been the concertmaster, conductor, and soloist of the Chamber Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk since 1999.
