Compositional Technique
Prokofiev modeled the two-movement structure of his Symphony No. 2 on Beethoven's Piano Sonata Op. 111, which also consists of a sonata form movement and a variation movement.

The State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia 'Evgeny Svetlanov', one of Russia's oldest symphonic ensembles, was officially named after its former leader Evgeny Svetlanov in 2005.
Interpretation
Conductor Vladimir Jurowski believes that only a Russian orchestra can bring a special profile and unique colors to Prokofiev's music, partly due to Russian woodwind and brass players often using very old instruments.
