The album was recorded in two different venues: St. Anselm's Roman Catholic Church in West Chezzetcook, NS, in February 2009, and the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Halifax, NS, in June 2009.

Rudolf Mauersberger's motet 'Wie liegt die Stadt so wüst' was written in mourning for the 25,000 civilians, including 11 choirboys, who died in the 1945 bombing of Dresden, Germany.
