Wolfgang Rihm's work on this album, 'Vermischt Traum', was his first completed composition after a serious health crisis, inspired by texts from Andreas Gryphius sent to him by Georg Nigl.

The fortepiano used for Schubert and Beethoven is a replica by Paul McNulty, modeled after a C. Graf instrument from 1819.
