Composer Biography
The young Bach copied out a Passacaglia and two Chaconnes by Buxtehude, which left clear traces in his own great Passacaglia in C minor, BWV 582.

Bach's 'Dorian' Toccata, BWV 538, is structured like a concerto grosso, with alternating sections for the 'ripieno' (orchestra) and 'concertino' (soloists), represented by two keyboards.

The chorale fantasia 'Wo Gott der Herr nicht bei uns hält' was largely unknown until a copy was rediscovered at a public auction in March 2008.
