Oboist Caitlin Broms-Jacobs and pianist Madeline Hildebrand have been musical collaborators since 2014, performing their first concert together on Winnipeg's Millennium Recital Series.

The recording sessions for this album took place in December 2023 at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall at Brandon University in Manitoba.
Performer Biography
Caitlin Broms-Jacobs is the principal oboist of the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, a position she has held since 2009, and also performs as guest principal oboist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
Interpretation
The performers, Caitlin Broms-Jacobs and Madeline Hildebrand, chose to feature composers from the Soviet Socialist Realism movement, an era when artists were mandated to represent an idealized view of life in the Soviet Union.
