Composition History

César Franck's Violin Sonata in A major was dedicated to and premiered by the Belgian violin virtuoso and composer Eugène Ysaÿe (1858-1931) as a wedding present in 1886.

Composer Biography

From 1820 until his death in 1828, Franz Schubert spent summers in Atzenbrugg, Lower Austria, where he composed many melodies and dance pieces for his friends in the castle.
